Erosion of the creek bank has resulted in the concrete footing of the bridge becoming inundated and undermined, compromising the stability of the 36m long and 2.7m wide structure. MPVH was awarded the tender to install three (3) 550mm Octagonal Prestressed concrete piles, cast in-situ a 0.9×1.0x4.1m concrete headstock, and scour protection works.
Each 10T, 550mm Octagonal Prestressed concrete piles was driven to a depth of 10.5m with a 100T crane, equipped with 17T hammer assembly. The piling work was carried by MVPH piling subcontractor, and supervised by MVPH RPEQ and Council’s engineers. PDA testing was carried out to ensure the piles have attained refusal and adequate capacity to meet the design requirements.
